Why I Write: To have a cool job

I've liked being able to list 'Writer' as my occupation on the electoral roll.

there was a strange moment when, when traveling, I had to fill in a immigration form and I wrote 'FILM MAKER' knowing that it relly was my occupation rather than my dream

I feel weird about listing "writer" as my job on those forms. For some reason the electoral role always seems to ask for an update when I'm between my proper sounding jobs. So I've been unemployed, student, Tyre setter and writer. It sounds like a strange career. Especially as I have no idea what a Tyre setter is (except that someone at the electoral commission didn't know what a typesetter was, and I thought it was funny so didn't change it). I have been told that a tyre setter might be someone who balances your cars tyres. Something which I have no knowledge of.
So... am I the first person to leave a longer comment than your orginal post?

When I am braver, I am going to change 'Writer' to 'Poet'. I was very jealous when I went to Brisbane with you and Mark, and on the immigration forms you wrote 'Writer', Mark wrote 'Poet' and I wrote 'Indexer'.
