I often write piles of crap del...I love to do this. I often write piles of crap deliberately not for the script, but for me. So I can get to know my characters better. I can know what their conflicts are, what motivates them. I mostly love to hear from the darker characters as I have trouble with understanding them (and therefore writing them). I once wrote a dialogue between myself as the writer, and the dark and cold antagonist in my story. It shocked me to my core. But really helped clarify things for me, and my story. It's interesting that you have found this sideline to be helpful as well.
